Thank you for your interest in the Paranormal Investigation Event at the Historic Ballard House. Please review the information contained within this packet and return only the waiver form. The rest of the packet is yours to refer to for compliance of rules and regulations.   

 

The Paranormal Investigation Event at the Historic Ballard House is hosted by the Beyond This Life Paranormal and the Oldham County Paranormal Research teams.   

 

RESERVATIONS 

 

  • Pre-registration for this event is required as space is limited. The reservation/ticket fee is $200.00 minimum that covers four (4) investigators which must be purchased in advance of the event. Additional tickets at $50 per person may be purchased in advance for an additional four (4) investigators. 

 

  • An original signed waiver must be received by the Historic Ballard House/From the Ground Up Books before the beginning of the event.

 

  • All ticket sales/reservations are final. Refunds and/or rescheduling are not available. You may transfer your reservation to another individual in-person at the Historic Ballard House on the day of the event.  

 

  • Tickets can be purchased online at historicballardhouse.com, over the phone at 502-293-0496 or in-person at the From the Ground Up Bookstore at 205 E Main Street, La Grange, KY. 

 

EVENT DETAILS 

 

The Historic Ballard House Paranormal Investigation Event is an event to allow ghost hunters the opportunity to explore the historic house’s “haunted” past. There are no guarantees of experiencing anything paranormal during the event. There will be no special effects nor a haunted house experience as part of this event. It is you, the investigator, with the opportunity to explore the historic building.  

 

  • Check-in will take place from 7:00pm – 8:00pm at the From the Ground Up Books at 205 E Main Street, La Grange, KY.  

 

  • All participants must be checked by 8:00pm – no exceptions. 

 

  • 8:00pm – 9:00pm recap of rules & regulations and a quick tour of the Historic Ballard House will be provided.  

 

  • 9:00pm – 5:00am Lights out - participants can hunt ghosts throughout permitted areas of the building.  

 

RULES & REGULATIONS 

​

  • Participants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. No minors will be allowed to participate in this event. 

 

  • Participants must have paid reservations and signed waiver on file with the Historic Ballard House/From the Ground Up Books. You will need to bring along your photo ID to check-in to the event. 

​

  • Participants must abide by all rules of the event.  

​

  • Participants can access areas on all floors of the building, however specific off-limit areas will be marked with caution tape. Any participants who enters these areas will be asked to leave and escorted off the grounds.  

​

  • Participants may leave at any time during the Historic Ballard House event. 

​

  • This event is not a sleepover, no accommodations are provided to participants.  

​

  • The Historic Ballard House does contain some hazards including, but not limited to steep staircases, low ceilings, and uneven surfaces.  The Historic Ballard House is not responsible for injuries.

​

  • Drug, alcohol, weapons are prohibited. Anyone suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be subjected to immediate removal from the event.  

​

  • Participants must bring along a flashlight and batteries to use during the event. It is suggested you bring along additional charged batteries. The use of candles or open flames is forbidden.

​

  • No seances or Ouija boards are allowed at this event. 

​

  • Removal of Historic Ballard House or From the Ground Up Books property or damage to property will result in immediate removal from the event and possible legal action. Participants are responsible for paying for damages.  

 

  • Smoking and Vaping are not permitted within the historic Ballard House. Participants may use the designated sidewalk area for such purposes.  

 

  • Please respect the building and its history. Please do not touch or attempt to open windows. Equipment on site are either historic or in-use, please refrain from touching. 

 

  • Some restrooms on upper floors are non-functioning. Please use only working restrooms which are in the main lobby.  

 

  • Any inappropriate behavior will result in the immediate expulsion of the participant(s) from the event. 

 

  • The Historic Ballard House/From the Ground Up Books is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY/AUDIO 

 

All photography, videos, and/or audio recordings captured during the event is for personal use only. Any use of images, videos and/or audio recordings for personal profit without written permission from the Historic Ballard House may result in legal action. The Historic Ballard House has the right to demand removal of any footage published by participants for any reason. 

 

SUGGESTIONS 

 

  • Dress appropriately for the season and activity. Participants should avoid wearing articles of clothing that could be a potential tripping hazard.  

 

  • Wear comfortable/sturdy shoes. 

 

  • Navigate the event in pairs or small groups. Participants should avoid “hunting” alone.  

 

  • Please be respectful to other participants and neighbors by keeping noise levels to a minimum. Anyone found scaring people on purpose or violating noise levels repeatedly will be asked to leave.  

 

THE HISTORIC BALLARD HOUSE AGREEMENT / WAIVER 

 

This agreement is approved upon signatures by and between the applicant (referred to as “participant” in this agreement) and the Historic Ballard House/From the Ground Up Books, 205 E Main Street, La Grange, KY 40031, 502-293-0496. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.

The Historic Ballard House, From the Ground Up Books, Beyond This Life Paranormal and Oldham County Paranormal Research members and Participant agree to the following:  

 

1. Participant agrees that they have read, understand, and will abide by the rules & regulations of the Historic Ballard House Paranormal Investigation event.  

 

2. Participant agrees to provide the Historic Ballard House with admission fee, signed agreement/waiver, and will present a valid photo ID upon check-in. Participant understands that admission/ticket fee is non-refundable. 

 

3. Participant agrees to bring no intentional harm or damage to any other participant or the Historic Ballard House/From the Ground Up Books.  

 

4. Participant agrees to refrain from use of drugs and/or alcohol prior to and during the event, refrain from smoking or vaping inside the building, or any inappropriate behavior while participating in the event.  

 

5. Participant understands that removal of any Historic Ballard House/From the Ground Up Books property is forbidden and will result in legal action.  

 

6. Participant understands regulations regarding use of photography, videography, and audio recordings. 

 

7. Participant may leave the event at any time. 

 

8. The Historic Ballard House makes no guarantee of paranormal activity during the event.  

 

9. As a condition of attendance, the Participant assumes the risk of injuries to person or property arising out of his or her use of the premises and does hereby release the Historic Ballard House, From the Ground Up Books, Beyond This Life Paranormal and Oldham County Paranormal Research, their trustees, board of directors, employees/volunteers, agents, sponsors, and successors from and against any claim, demand liability arising out of such injury and will protect and indemnify the Historic Ballard House and those persons released with respect to any claim, demand or liability arising out of such injury including death.   

 

I hereby agree to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
